Ski Kläppen encountered several challenges typical in the ski tourism industry. One key hurdle was enhancing visitor retention by encouraging guests to return season after season, fostering long-term loyalty. Watson Creative’s partnership with SKIDATA ensured seamless integration of RFID-enabled passes into the loyalty rewards system. Skiers used their RFID cards to unlock experiences, earn points, and track progress. These cards also provided real-time access to ski lifts, ensuring a frictionless experience.
The loyalty platform featured gamified opportunities for families, friends, and communities to engage with Ski Kläppen. Challenges ranged from completing specific trails to earning points for frequent visits. Social features allowed groups to compete, share achievements, and track their progress on leaderboards.
To boost local business, the RFID system extended beyond the resort, enabling visitors to earn points by dining in nearby restaurants, shopping in local stores, or booking stays at partner hotels. These partnerships created a symbiotic relationship between Ski Kläppen and the surrounding community, driving tourism dollars into the local economy.
